To make these santas, you can see,
I use the bark from timeworn trees.
I find it lying on the ground,
each fallen tree a treasure found.

I break it into pleasing shapes
then look to find the hidden face.
(It’s always there within each piece,
waiting quietly to be released.)

With special care I draw each face.
It's all "free hand" - I do not trace!
Each one refined with great detail,
each personality prevails!

Next I paint his beard and hair,
some eyebrows and a hat to wear,
& add some depth with texture snow -
his beard and mustache seem to grow!

And when he's done, and sealed, and dried,
the hanging cord and tags applied,
this Tree-Bark Santa at last can be an
ornament on your Christmas tree.
