Let me tell you about Ornatopia . . .
Many years ago I started making Christmas ornaments to give as gifts for my family and friends. Before long I was participating in local craft shows. It was great to see the same people come to my booth year after year to see what new ornaments I had! It also kept me inspired to come up with new ornaments each year.
In the past ten years I've probably made over 50 different ornaments. I add a new one or "retire" an old one as demand and materials dictate. I currently have about 25 in my collection, and the ones included here seem to be the most popular.Making my ornaments is like therapy to me! I can relax and forget everything else as I'm concentrating on my latest project. And, in 1998 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, making ornaments literally WAS my therapy. I was home for almost all of 1998 trying to endure chemo, a stem cell transplant and finally radiation. The ornaments really helped to get me through each day — to focus on something other than being sick. This year marks my eight-year anniversary of being cancer-free! I also donate a portion of my profits to breast cancer research.
I love legends and stories, and all of my ornaments come with a tag or card that includes one. If there isn't an existing legend, I write a verse, poem or story of my own . . . I think it adds something to the ornament! Many people have told me that they like my tags almost as much as the ornaments! Please feel free to e-mail me with any ideas you have or any legends that aren't included here. I hope to hear from you!
